Queens College MSA has been here for more than 50 years, and an African American brother started the organization. At that time racism was prevalent, and on top of it, he was a Muslim. Under those conditions, he advocated for a place for Muslim students at QC. What we are doing is continuing a legacy that our past brothers and sisters started. Dr. Ali’s small office was the entire MSA, and students would take turns to use the office to pray. Today, we have separate rooms for brothers and sisters that other MSA don’t have. Our brothers and sisters in Islam fought for a place for us to be able to gather and over the years work hard to maintain and expand our resources. The MSA is more than just a club. It’s a symbol of what was fought for and what we continue to fight for. Also, MSA is a place where we make beautiful memories that we carry on past graduation.
